  1. Explore Cool!
  2. The stand-alone multidocument Windows explorer replacement with image preview, 
  3. multimedia and many other features.

  6. This software is free.

  9. Installation:
  10. The ExploreCool is stand alone, that is it will work from any directory or CD.
  11. Just copy it to any location you want, for example C:\Windows\

  14. Program background Info:
  15. Leonard Smith did a great job with his FiFo utility, so I decide to push it a bit further.
  16. I like to play with graphics and sound so I added few things I was missing in original explorer.
  17. I didn't change much of the code, mostly I added a new features (actually the code almost doubled :)

  19. The features I added:

  21. Fast Preview for graphic formats and text.
  22. Pressing F3 or clicking the last button in the first row will open Fast Preview window.(See picture)
  23. Here you can see preview of major graphic formats (bmp, jpg, gif, png, pcx, tiff, tga) as well as preview of text files (txt, h, cpp, inf, nfo...)
  24. The image will be resized (smoothly) to fit the prview pane.

  27. Launch Bar
  28. This I find very useful. You can type any dos command directly in the combo box and after you press Enter it will execute it.
  29. More: you can use Drag & Drop to drop one ore more files into the combo box, which will save typing.
  30. Launchbar has some other Quick launch buttons one for cdplayer and other for Email.

  32. Play multimedia files
  33. If you select in the listview a multimedia file (wav, mid, au, avi, mpg, rif..) you will see the Play button will be enabled. 
  34. Clicking on it will start play the multimedia file. You can stop it with other button)

  40. Few things I changed:
  41. I kill the InfoPane from the top of the view and put it to the bottom, 
  42. where it looks better to me. (it is actually not CInfoPane anymore :)

  44. Drag & Drop - I didn't like the left mouse drag = move, right = copy approach so I changed it to the standard
  45. Ctrl / Shift. I also show proper cursor for that action. 
  46. When you drag more files it will show group icon during drag instead just one item.
  47. Some network stuff fix - I don't have fully working network and it was crashing in one place, nothing serious.

  49. I removed some view toggle stuff and replaced it with toggle between Commander and Explorer type of view
  50. (just playing around)

  52. I hope some one might find this my clone useful.

  54. One tip: To get another Explorer clone done by MS themselves type winfile.exe in the command Combo box :-)

  56. Don't forgot the author of the original is Leonard Smith and I am sure he must spent many hours writing it aginst my few hours making this clone.
  57. I didn't want to make the original program better or worse, this is my vision of the clone, and you might have different opinion.
